Segovia Cathedral (Spain) Echevarria organ (1772) with Joaquin Lois 06:30 pm CET

The Segovia Cathedral organ was built by Joseph Echevarria in 1769-1772 on the north side of the quire. It is his one of the largest organs from the baroque period preserved in Spain. The organ represents the climax of the Iberian organ building style. Restored in 2021 by Joaquin Lois.

The webinar will start with a 45 minutes long video, made by a professionals. After a introduction with a presentation of the historical town and the magnificent cathedral of Segovia, the organ builder Joaquin Lois will show us the instrument. We will learn about the history of the organ in detail, have „a guided tour“ starting with the console, to many corner of the instrument, commented pictures from the restauration process, drawings. We will get to know „the secrets“ of this magical instrument! The video will finish with music.

In the second part of the webinar, we will have the opportunity to ask Joaquin Lois questions directly. This will allow us to discuss historical and stylistic issues, restoration methods etc., benefit from our colleague's extensive knowledge and thus delve deeper into the topic.
